What happened to the days when we had somebody checking ID's when they came in to work and when they left work ?

The only ones out front are FAT smokers when we come to work.

There is no reason for someone to through pliers to the gate to escape, at Lewis you can walk right out. Heck who there to stop you.

And please get the buses up and running. Im getting old.

Interesting point. A lot of people ask the rhetorical question, "who tries to sneak INTO a prison?" but don't consider that people might not even try to get onto a unit. It's probably easy to go right past VIP, toss some pliers over the fence, and come right back without an ID challenge. Without an ID check at VIP, in or out, we need to be alert and aware of everything around us, people we've never met before, and keep an eagle eye out there in the perimeter checks.

That's so weird: i remember a day, a day bright and shiny and full of promise, a day that VIP was staffed with an officer 24/7 and 3 COIIIs to check in visitors on weekends, I remember a day when people used the hand-scan to assure accountability of personnel, I remember a day when the department had mandatory overtime and critical staffing. And you know, I remember how it all went away.
Someone more famous (and better paid) then me once said, "You can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time." Truer words were never spoken. If we had a new fleet and 100% staff and no furloughs and double the uniform allowance and lunch delivery for staff and a great big bubble of fresh air floated over all of Lewis Complex, someone would still piss and moan that they WANTED the OT or they NEEDED to wear crappy uniforms or they didn't LIKE the brand of cars in fleet or whatever else there could possibly be to complain about. VIP is a collapsed post now, to cross-level staff to other places. Deal with it, or don't. Not like whining is going to fix it...
