A Maricopa County Sheriff's Office detention officer was arrested Friday by Goodyear police on suspicion of negligent homicide three weeks after a fatal crash left one woman dead, according to Maricopa County Superior Court documents.

Adrian Salazar Guzman, 27, of Avondale, also was booked on counts of endangerment, DUI and extreme DUI, court records show. He is being held on $750,000 bond.

Alisha Marie Trejo, 27, who lived in an unincorporated area near Litchfield Park, was stopped at the stop sign at Indian School and Citrus roads in Goodyear on her 2009 Ducati Monster about 12:45 a.m. Oct. 16 when she was hit from behind by Guzman, who was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt, according to a Goodyear traffic accident report.

Trejo "was thrown from her motorcycle" and died instantly, according to court documents. Her foot also was severed as a result of the collision.

Trejo was driving with her husband, who was on his own motorcycle, police said. He was not injured.

Guzman told police he started drinking at 10 a.m. that morning and continued to drink throughout the day, according to court documents. He felt "buzzed" when he left the last bar about half an hour before the crash. He had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and emanated a strong odor of alcohol, police said.

A blood draw at the hospital about 2 a.m. showed Guzman's blood-alcohol content was 0.225 percent, records show. A test by police about 4:30 a.m. after investigators obtained a search warrant showed a 0.14 percent blood-alcohol level.

Guzman, who works in the Fourth Avenue Jail, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Friday at his attorney's office in Phoenix following a police investigation, Goodyear police spokesman John Rowan said.
