PHOENIX (AP) — Prison officials say three inmates have escaped from a northwest Arizona prison.
Helicopters and K-9 units joined the search for the men, who were discovered missing Friday evening from the Arizona State Prison in Golden Valley. The men are considered dangerous.
The missing prisoners are:
- Tracy Province, who was serving a life sentence for murder and robbery;
- Daniel Renwick, who was serving 22 years for second-degree murder; and
- John McCluskey, who was serving 15 years for second-degree murder, aggravated assault and discharge of a firearm.
Anyone with information on the escaped prisoners should call police immediately. They were last seen wearing orange prison jumpsuits.
GOVERNOR BREWER - Where is the accountability to our public and to our citizens - are we white-washing this event too like the numerous statewide homicides, suicides, assaults, disturbances, attempted escapes and now successful escape from Kingman? Don't blame the correctional officer. Blame the top for giving those limited resources and severe budget cutting resulting in shoddy work conditions and shortage of staff. WHERE IS THE ACCOUNTABILITY! Is the fourth floor so busy they can’t control private prisons and how they operate? I hope not but we need a change in leadership because the agency is in turmoil and staff is getting hurt. Now, with these criminals on the loose, they could very likely harm someone else and through neglect and litigation, we will have saved zero dollars by cutting corners and using prisons unable to hold our state inmates
