SAN DIEGO - An inmate at Donovan State Prison in Otay Mesa was stabbed to death Monday, authorities said.
Prison officials requested an ambulance around 10:40 a.m., but the prisoner apparently died before he could be taken from the prison located near the Mexican border, Cal Fire Battalion Chief Nick Schuler said.
State and county authorities were consulting to see which agencies would investigate the case, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
