I have sat back from the start of this web site and not said anything. I am now ready to say something. That things have gotten better for the most part a morey. The moral between staff is much better. We have really good sgt's and a good lt. The Captain is really good to. much better the the last one. This Captain we have now at least has a backbone. the incident on saturday never should of happened. We had 17 staff members there that is not enough to run that yard as normal. This is not just a one time thing this happens about 5out of the 7 days in the week. alot of times we are shorter then that. and the DW makes the call to run as normal. He puts our lives and our safety at risk. He wants to say that it is downtown that makes that call that is B.S. He makes that call he is just to chicken to make the call. He also wants to say well you don't understand you are right I don't know how you can not care about officer safety. Our sgts and lts tell him no and take a lot of flake for it. I would like to thank them thank you. On saturday that never should of happened. we should of been locked down and they should of been fed in house. the DW made the call that no we will slow feed on yard and feed as normal on the other yard. Had he had a set and cared about staff he would of made that call. When the pod went off the officers that where there all 3 of them that is all that officers we had on that side. Responded they did a wonderful job. When the rec field went off the officers on the ground did an outstanding job. The 2 officers in the tower could have and should have prevented it from going that far. We have been told several time in brifing that we are authorized to use force from the tower if something like that happens. Those officers did not do that. they were told by each supervisor that was there to fire over the radio and they failed to do so. The put the risk of the officers on the ground at risk because they had to go on the rec field while this was going on and use force. That is not okay. Put people up there that will do there job. I hope the right person reads this and this gets fixed. HB
